Application procedures

Foreign students are admitted without an entry exam. They can be enrolled in the course they choose, provided they satisfy the state specified entry requirements. Please note: The minimum mean rating mark from specific subjects, taught at school SHOULD NOT be less than 62% out of the maximum value of the assessment system in the respective country.

For the Technical University these subjects are:


      Mathematics and Physics for the engineering studies
      History, English language, Literature etc. for the non-engineering courses

Required documents

REQUIRED DOCUMЕNTS for Applicants in the bachelor/specialist degree


      1. Filled-in Application form with applicant`s short personal data, home address, email, phone, desired course, etc.
      2. Six passport size photographs.
      3. Copy of applicant`s Secondary School Certificate/Diploma, translated in Bulgarian and certified (legalized) by the Bulgarian Consulate/Embassy in the respective country with an Apostille stamp.
      4. Copy of the Certificate/Diploma`s supplement marks from the secondary school, translated in Bulgarian and certified (legalized) by the Bulgarian Consulate/Embassy in the respective country with an Apostille stamp. The marks’ system should be clearly detailed in view of the five grade notation – Excellent, very good, good, mean/pass.
      5. Medical Certificate, translated in Bulgarian and certified (legalized) by the Bulgarian Consulate/Embassy in the respective country by the Bulgarian Consulate/Embassy in the respective country with. It should be issued at least a month before applying for the enrollment.
      6. A letter from applicant`s parents, where they state they will meet all applicant`s expenses during his/her stay in Bulgaria, translated in Bulgarian and certified (legalized) by the Bulgarian Consulate/Embassy in applicant`s country with an Apostille stamp.
      7. Copies of applicant`s passport (the page with candidate's full name, written down in Latin, date and place of birth).
      8. A certificate issued by applicant` s high-school/competent institution, where it has to be stated that the applicant has the right to continue his/her education in any university in his/her country. This document should be translated in Bulgarian and certified (legalized) by the Bulgarian Consulate/Embassy in applicant`s country with an Apostille stamp.


REQUIRED DOCUMЕNTS for Applicants in the Master/Doctorate degree


      1. Filled-in Application form with applicant`s short personal data, home address, email, phone, desired course, etc.
      2. Six passport size photographs.
      3. Copy of applicant`s Bachelor/Master degree Diploma, translated in Bulgarian and certified (legalized) by the Bulgarian Consulate/Embassy in the respective country with an Apostille stamp.
      4. Copy of the Diploma supplement – “transcript of courses”, where lectures/labs/course assignment hours should be stated as well as with the appropriate marks and ECTS credits. It has to be translated in Bulgarian and certified (legalized) by the Bulgarian Consulate/Embassy in the respective country with an Apostille stamp. The marks’ system should be clearly detailed in view of the five grade notation – Excellent, very good, good, mean/pass.
      5. Medical Certificate, translated in Bulgarian and certified (legalized) by the Bulgarian Consulate/Embassy in the respective country by the Bulgarian Consulate/Embassy in the respective country with an Apostille stamp. It should be issued at least a month before applying for the enrollment.

How to get a student’s visa



Currently the procedure is controlled by the Ministry of Education in Bulgaria and the Ministry of Exterior.

      1. Applicants are expected to send the required applicant’s documents to this address:

      9010 Varna, Bulgaria,
      1 Studentska Str.;
      Foreign Students Department

      2. The package will be checked for consistency at the Foreign students dean’s office and further sent to the Ministry of Education ion.
      3. Applicants will be informed about the start of the procedure officially from the University.
      4. The procedure ends with issuing a Certificate, provided by the Ministry of Education that the applicant is approved for training at the Technical University of Varna, stating that the applicant may start her/his education at the Technical University with a duration, depending upon the degree of study. A copy of this document will be sent to the Applicant.

The Certificate starts the appropriate procedures for getting a visa, type D for the time period of study in the appropriate qualification degree.

This document is automatically passed to the appropriate official Bulgarian Institution abroad via the Ministry of the Exterior for further processment.
